MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Resurgent global food prices, which posted record increases in the first two months of 2011, are again threatening to push millions of people in developing Asia into extreme poverty, says a new report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) titled 'Global Food Price Inflation and Developing Asia'.

BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Climate change will compound challenges of food security for Southeast and East Asia, experts issued the warning in Beijing Tuesday [March 29, 2011].

Man Ho So, deputy regional representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), said the region is still home to a quarter of the world's undernourished people and food security remains as a major concern.

Vietnam will launch its first remote sensing satellite in 2014, according to the Space Technology Institute of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.  

The Head of the Space Technology Institute, Associate Professor Doan Minh Chung said that the satellite, called VNREDSat-1, will be designed and assembled using French technology in 2013.

Vietnam is willing to provide Bangladesh with long-term supply of rice to ensure food security in the country, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said in Hanoi on Monday.
